Description
Work boots with a Goodyear welt, which means the sole is stitched to a strip running round the upper rather than glued straight on. The practical result is that a cobbler can replace the sole when it wears through, instead of you replacing the boots.
That construction also makes the boot more water-resistant at the join, which is where glued soles let water in first. The padded collar and cushioned insole handle a long day, and the reinforced heel counter keeps the foot steady.
They go with denim and a hoodie, with straight-leg jeans, or under wool trousers. Tan wears in more visibly than black, which suits this construction.
